The March of The Plebs 2.0
For those who do not know their western history a brief primer. A scant one and half decades after the fall of the Roman monarchy and the establishment of the Roman republic a problem emerged. The patricians had begun to abuse the plebeians, causing great civil strife within the nascent republic.
This resulted in the secession of the plebs, an event where they fled en masse to the Sacred Mount, a hill outside of the city of Rome. This completely paralyzed the city and forced the patricians to do something they truly abhorred, compromise.
The plebs extracted from the senate the office of the people’s tribune, an office that only could be staffed from their ranks. The tribunes were considered sacrosanct, meaning that any and all attempts to interfere with their duties or harm them was a capital offense.
The power of the tribune was such that they even had what was essentially our modern day presidential veto…without even being a president. They could even summon the senate, forcing that patrician staffed body to listen to their proposals.
Do you understand how much the powerful hate that idea? Aristocracies positively seethe at any measure that empowers the lower orders. Yet the patricians had no choice here, the secession of the plebs was that crippling to the city of Rome.
Coming back to our modern circumstances our elites find themselves in a similar pickle, unlike the patricians of Rome they are not ready to face reality. Part of this of course is how bitter of a pill they will have to swallow. You see the plebs of the USA have effectively been seceding for at least seventeen years if not longer.
Remember when the elites saved themselves and the banks in 2008 and told the common man to fuck himself? Remember when men started getting divorce raped as the elite sponsored march through the institutions began? Remember how the government just kept printing more money and importing more foreigners to drive our standard of living into the dirt?
Well the people got the damn memo, many of them leaving the system entirely. Such concepts and movements as FIRE (financial independence, retire early), passport bros, MGTOW (men going their own way), and many others began because of these hostile elite actions.
Notice the difference between how the patricians of Rome reacted to their plebian revolt vs our modern elites? The aristocracy of Rome reacted swiftly, willingly acceding to an extraordinary check on their own power in order to keep Rome functioning. Our elites on the other hand have buried their heads in the sand, insisting that their system can function without us.
It is only now (and only among some of them) that they have realized exactly what they have done. We see this clearly in the elites who backed Trump, they understand which way the wind is blowing. What they do not understand is just how much worse this plebian secession is compared to its ancient forbearer.
You see part of the reason the senate of Rome reacted so quickly is that they understood they were up against a clock. Sure the plebs might camp out on the fancy hill for a few weeks but eventually they would need to start farming. They would of course choose to farm far away from the city, building their own communities. These communities could potentially grow big enough to rival or even subsume Rome.
With this fear in their minds combined with the city’s paralysis they bit the bullet quickly. Our elites by contrast have disregarded plebian concerns for decades. The farms have already been setup, many men are now so far along their own paths that they see no reason in stopping now. Others have just stopped giving a damn, choosing to just survive and enjoy their lives instead of doing anything useful or essential.
This means that even if some plebs return to the fold that the system will still not have enough grunts to keep running. This means that the measures required to convince the skeptical plebeians to come back will make Rome’s measures look minor. This is assuming that such measures even exist or that the elite will be willing to implement them.
You see many of those commoners have by circumstance been forced to go their own way. In doing so they have tasted the forbidden wine of personal independence. Ever wonder why no one wants to hire someone who was self employed for any serious length of time? Those employers understand that you have a taste for freedom and guess what? They really, really hate you having a taste for doing things your own way.
The boss understands that even if he is willing to offer you better conditions, better pay, and less hours than what you had on your own that will still not be enough. Absolute control over your own fate is one of the most potent drugs known to mankind. Being able to wake up each and every morning and say, “I am the boss now” is a pleasure that cannot be priced.
This means by and large that millions of men will simply not return to the republic. Whether out of despair, apathy, or succeeding outside the system these men are a lost cause to the elites. Many of them will not just leave the nation in spirit but in the flesh as well. They have internalized the old saying, “go where you are treated best”.
Much to the dismay of our overlords the expats, the passport bros, the pensioners, and others have discovered that means going outside the USA. Thanks to the black magic of the internet this knowledge is no longer the providence of a lucky few. Anyone who seeks out the information will find it within hours.
The empty promises and vapid bullshit that is spewed from the mouthpieces of the western elite cannot compare to what we see. We can clearly see the +40 pensioner retiring to the Philippines, living the best of lives on just a police or military pension.
That man gets something in the Philippines that is virtually impossible in the USA. On his 2000 or more dollars per month pension he can rent a decent house or apartment, support a loving stay at home wife (who is often half his age or even less), send his children to nice private schools, afford a car, and still have money left over each month.
That (and many other examples of expat life) will become the standard the American plebe wants. If the elites will not or cannot at least match that standard then the plebes shall not return. No matter how much the cry of patriotism is shouted or the banner of national/racial/ethnic solidarity is waved will the plebeians be moved.
