Bringing Back Shame to the USA...
We have a problem here in America, it is a lack of shame. What you see in the above image was designed to save overdosing drug users. At first this seems completely benign, by many standards miraculous. Yet our population is so shameless that they have put it to use as a recreational aid, aka the narcan party.
Yes, they get get high deliberately, pushing the limits until they overdose. Then someone in the party gives them narcan, can you not see the problem reader? Apart from the rather nasty side effects that narcan administration can cause there are no consequences for these partygoers.
They have no shame at all, using whatever means available to keep chasing the next high. No amount of drug enforcement or rehab can cure this social disease, they can only treat the symptoms. To fix this plague requires us to shame the offenders, coddling them as we do will not convince them to abandon drugs.
Public shaming is required, the drug abusers must understand that their actions have consequences. This point also incidentally applies to many of the other social and psychological ills that plague us. Ranging from divorce to transgenderism these issues come from the same source as drugs, lack of shame.
We all know a man claiming to be a woman or vice versa is insane, it is simply not possible no matter what “treatments” the fool undergoes. In truth people such as this exist in all societies, the difference is that some societies shame these people into sanity.
Why is shame such a powerful, motivating force? Because it is external, it is applied against you from the outside. Unlike guilt you cannot rationalize shame away, no amount of mental gymnastics will change the fact that other people look down upon you.
Furthermore shame is something that virtually every human being (and many animals) can feel. The same cannot be said about guilt, our politicians, CEOS, and the TSA are living proof of that. Only external force will cause them to change their behavior, the scarlet letter needs to be brought back into vogue.
